Part 1 of summer in the bag
If I have to put my summer into sections, then one of them is finished now.
The early part of the summer has been all about the Youth National teams and Universiad teams, so covering their training sessions, videos, interviews, games, tournaments.. etc, etc..
Unfortunately this is another summer when I won’t make any FIBA Youth tournaments on the continent.. those have always been great fun and meeting some super people over there. Although, many of the events were at the time when Facebook was the only social media platform… so I do have a fair number of peculiar friends on Facebook.
So when you go to Facebook and see an update from a random person from .. let’s say Moldova.. you look at it and wonder… ‘where did I meet this person and when??’ .. and when the players are now about 15 years older in some cases.. I might not recognise them anymore. But when they share photos from early tournaments in their career.. then I know who they are.
But, back to this summer. Super fun with the U16, U18 and U20 + the Universiad teams. Lots of hours spent on the practice court doing videos and lots of game photographed as well.

A BIG thank you to all the players and coaches and staff who helped me get all the content out to the various social media channels over the past weeks/months. You still (some of you) have your tournaments ahead of you – and I’ll be following them from afar.
Now my focus for the next 7 or 8 weeks turns to Susijengi … their preparation for the World Cup – then the World Cup. Naturally more challenging for the the content guy like myself.. to get new and interesting content for 8 weeks from one team.. instead of the early summer when it has been 8 weeks and about 10 different teams.
Hopefully catch many of the Youth players during the season in the clubs… well, not the ones in the US – as it’s pretty far away and no-one will pay me THAT much that I can fly over there.. although, anyone out there feeling generous, I am open to offers 😉
