ABOUT ME and NORDIC HOOPS
I go by many names, Spook, Oogabuuga, GooGaBu, Susipaparazzi, Ville … and so on – different places, different names – but I am the photographer behind Nordic Hoops.
One thing that remains, is that where ever you see me, you most likely see me holding a camera in my hands and capturing the game of basketball. In my years behind the lens, I have shot the game for clubs, National Federations, FIBA, EuroLeague, NBA and so on. Always doing it because I love to capture the moments – slowly capturing the moments became my only source of income and it still is (for now).
I’ve always believed that basketball – in the Nordics , has its own rhythm shaped by our long winters, bright summer nights, small gyms and dedicated fans. My goal is to capture that atmosphere one frame at a time. I want my photos to tell the story of basketball in the North as honestly as it feels to experience it.
Nordic Hoops is where I share those stories.
It’s a mix of game coverage, moments in-between, and the personalities that make Nordic basketball what it is. Every gallery is shot and edited by me, and every post includes small notes or reflections — because I think context matters, and photography becomes richer when you know the story behind the shot.
For now, the journey is about to start, even if in someways it has been going on for years – where this journey will lead and how long it will last, remains to be seen. The goal is to take as many of you along for the journey and also become part of the journey with me.
I photograph across Finland and the wider Nordic region, focusing on league games, youth National team events, and the growing culture around the sport. If you’re a player, coach, fan, or just someone who appreciates the game, I’m glad you found your way here.
