Nordic Championships 2023 – Finals Day
Last one … and I pretty much was last one out of the door with the Julia from Swedish Federation content team.. well – last out of the Arena.. as everyone was dashing to the airport, so no-one was hanging around too long.
But what a day – headed to the Arena for 8.30am for Finland Men U20 Bronze medal game vs Estonia, only to find out that it was cancelled. So – just sat and watched a game that was going on.
Next, 11.15 the Finland Men U18 final Group game vs Estonia … wait a minute, that one is also cancelled. Yes – I have been at the Arena for quite a while only to find out that games I am supposed to shoot, are getting cancelled. As a joke I send a message to one of the WU20 players just to check their Final vs Sweden is still happening at 16.00 (yes, it was!)
In the end – I was at the Arena well before the first game, only to shoot the last game of the day, logical. And having checked out of the hotel already, and it pissing it down in Södertälje – I was NOT going back to the hotel.
The Final – a game definitely worth a Final – Finland vs Sweden games normally are anyways, but this was the second game between the two countries this week and the second thriller . .. not on O.T game (not sure Finland would have wanted one 😉 )
For myself – it was an over load on the content I put online, wrote the Blog post while at the Arena – did some clips from previous games, then the Final. As Finland won it – so it was of course the compulsory team photo with the Trophy, then to the locker room to film the team dancing and singing to Käärijä’s Cha Cha Cha, posting a key play video clip, game photos, celebration photos… all this before rushing out the door to grab a taxi to Arlanda. (also had good exercise as bags for myself and Julia were the first placed to the hotels bag storage room.. and were under the bags of one or two basketball teams bags… so good little five minutes to dig out our bags).
Taxi of course was a bit of a splurge on the costs – but at the end of a long tournament, long day, rainy day.. and just wanting to get to the hotel to rest… 100% worth it!
Quick Japanese dinner at the airport – gotta start learning for the World Cup ….. can’t go with just from what the guy at Coupy Channel eats… as I am not sure I am allowed to cook my own meals at the hotel in Okinawa in August???
Also just a random side note… why are the Sweden so damn obsessed with sparkling water??? I mean .. it is everywhere, try to find still water from a shop?? You might just as well be asking for .. I don’t know a sheep head. And yes – I know the water from the tap is better than bottled water, but.. it’s not always available.
Now.. heading back to Finland on an early flight to Helsinki – and probably straight to work with popping to the U16 Nordic Championships in Kisakallio for another Finland vs Sweden day.
