One more time, Vilpas vs Korihait
You’d wish this was the Final?
There aren’t many rivalries in the Finnish Korisliiga like Vilpas vs Korihait (add to the mix Vilpas vs Bojan). So it is in a way shame that this match-up came already in the quarters.
But, what a series we’ve been treated to, tonight it’s Game 05 in the best of five series, three of the games have been single basket games either way, and in Game 04 Korihait blew Vilpas out with the biggest win of the series.
What is at stake?
Nothing less than a place in the semi’s or summer holidays – that it what the teams are playing for tonight at Salohalli.
Both teams have only 100% fitness on the rosters announced at 10am this morning – this is not NBA where players get given imaginary injuries by their teams as the want to ‘tank’.
Battle of the ‘team songs’
I am one for teams having their ‘own songs’ – maybe the tradition is not as big in Finland as in some other countries (but we are a small nations.. so)
But both Vilpas and Korihait have their own songs – Korihait maybe uses it more at their games than Vilpas.. but gonna post them more here and you can comment which you prefer?
And for someone who loves a bit of 80’s feel to their music.. the ‘ UU Voittaa’ does hit some sort of spot in me ..
Who wins??
Yeah, that is the question – not a €1.000.000 question as Korisliiga teams do not operate on such budgets 😉
But – does home court advantage matter – or will Korihait bring momentum from the big win few days ago??

After tonight?
Winner of the game will get the few days rest and then head to Helsinki for the weekend to play Seagulls in the semis – the defeated team will gather their beach balls and sun lotion and head for summer holidays and dream of next season.
