Another Cup weekend done, and why are winter coats dark?
Survived another Cup weekend, in about 52 hours … I spent half of those at the Arena.. or commuting to the Arena or back to the hotel. The other half I spent mainly feeling allergic at the hotel room and sleeping poorly. Honestly, what is the secret to sleeping well in anywhere apart from a camper van???
Workwise the last day was the easiest, Women’s Cup Final .. video and stills again from it.
After the game the usual hunt for anything apart from fast food places to be open for a food – with once again NO LUCK in finding anywhere at 10pm on a Sunday evening. So – it was a healthy (or not) McDonalds salad… guess it MUST be better than burger&fries??
From the six games over the weekend, probably a total of 1500 images edited and archived – only so many archive photos you need from the teams when the playing rosters are always well trimmed.. so at some point you are getting the 50th photo of the same player. But – nice to get fresh photos for the Korisliiga to get something fresh for their social media posts with the season turning towards the business end slowly!
Monday morning it was train journey from Helsinki to home – and thus the second part of the title… why are winter coats all dark in colour?? For better or worse, I do enjoy some colour in my clothes, and with my hotel room window looking out to the platforms of Helsinki railway station… the Monday morning commuters, like 98% wear black or very, very, very, very dark blue coats. WHY!! Probably answering the question myself – as I always try to look for colourful winter coats myself… and very rarely find any. Then when you do, they are some famous brand and cost like €1200 … where as a jacket in black (or very, very, very, very dark blue) in the next rack is €150 ..
Now – trying to figure out whether I have a flu.. or just trying to eject the last dust particles from the hotel room from my sinuses … and also looking that I have my own bed close by… so might take the chance and have a mid-day nap.
Oh – and yes, with the weekend having been a Cup weekend.. there were trophy ceremonies… and the TV cameraman did manage to JUST make their way in front of the ceremony at the ‘right’ time.
Next – planning the next bits of photo/video work and trying to get schedules sorted with players .. looking at which games to pop to over the coming weeks… and also already looking at summer ahead!
