EBT-BC Nokia – WU19 Finnish League
BC Nokia end EBT’s perfect run!
Saturday evening saw EBT lose ONE of their perfect runs in various leagues – as in the LATE tip-off in WU19 Finnish League – BC Nokia took a HUGE win in the league and caused EBT to lose for the first time this season.
BC Nokia are on a great run with three straight wins in the league, which have seen them rise up to fourth in the league table – EBT still keep the top spot, but now share it with Tampereen Pyrintö.
To be honest, I just had to leave at halftime of the game, I had been shooting 10 hours straight – and even if I saw it was a close game.. there comes a time when your body/head just tells you to end the day.
So – of course I missed the turn around in the game, where as EBT led by 4 points at the half, BC Nokia took the 3rd and 4th quarter with 14-20 and 14-20 score. And therefore winning the game 71-63.
Think like a coach
Let’s play this again – if I were the coach looking at the game from the stats, what shines out to me?
Few stats that I would come to – first one is : Three point shooting!!
For EBT : 3/20 – For BC Nokia 8/40 – OK – the percentage isn’t that different. But making 8 vs 3 shots.. that is the difference. Otherwise, EBT scored more from inside the arc and from free-throw line.. so?
Other than that.. the stats are remarkably similar…
For stats : EBT – games only double-double.. Kenisha Omoriotiomwan 17 points and 10 rebounds, I mean.. she wasn’t afraid to attack the basket from what I saw! Helmi Hiltunen with 12 points, Adiisa Rinne with 15 points and 6 rebounds, Joella Rasanen with THREE blocked shots
For BC Nokia : Mona Etu-Seppälä with 15 points, Elli Riihelä with 13 points and Lotta Arvela 10 points, Riihelä came one rebound and two assists short of a triple-double. Maija Honkonen stole the ball 6 times.
Show goes on!
I think the WU19 is interesting league to photograph and follow – there are plenty of players who play in the Women’s Korisliiga and Women’s D1. And many of course who are in the youth National Teams (unfortunately Finland does no longer have U20 teams).
But – don’t be surprised if I will post more about this league in the coming weeks!
