Preseason Power Rankings – Korisliiga (W)

1 – EBT ( 3-0 ): You can’t argue with the results, the core of the team has stayed the same from previous seasons as has Head Coach. The continuity will help the Espoo team be in a strong position once the season starts, and preseason is proof of this. Also scoring over 100 points twice!

2 – Peli-Karhut ( 2-0 ) : The wins are wins – vs Kouvottaret and D1 LePy, and their roster looks strong, Vehka-Aho, Heard, Gustavson, Crawford and Toomingas. No European trips this season, but coach Mäkelä needs to get his team to gel a little more.

3 – ToPo ( 2-0 ) : Going 2-0 in their two games, not big wins – but something to take belief from after losing some senior players from last seasons silver medal winning team. Their win vs HBA just pips them to the third place at this point of preseason.

4 – HBA ( 3-1 ) : Am I just feeling kind, or could this be a HBA team that challenges for the higher places come the end of the season? Of course and Academy team, so the roster is young, but with the upwards surge of Finnish Women’s basketball on International stage – names like Talonen, Loukola, Gardziella, Luukkanen .. you have talent in the roster. But being a a team full of students – you never know…

5 – ViVe ( 1-0 ) : Yet to see this team play, but talking to coaches at games I have been to, they seem to think this ViVe team has something special – only one preseason game so far, but that was a win vs Pyrintö. With a game or two more, they could have been higher in the rankings.

6 – Pyrintö ( 1-1 ) : One win – One loss. Win coming vs Kouvottaret, who have not had their full roster in many games, and defeat to ViVe. Fifty-fifty at the moment, interesting to see where the next game will go.

7 – Honka ( 0-2 ) : Without a win in their two games, game vs HBA gave indications that things can click into place, but the team just wasn’t quite there yet, going 0-2 won’t get you too high on the Power Rankings.

8 – BC Nokia ( 0-2 ) : Two game, two defeats to in form EBT, but coming away empty handed from these two games. Sorry to say, that does leave you near the wrong end of the Rankings

9 – Kouvottaret ( 0-3) : Three games, three defeats – although not having all your players in some of the games.. it definitely hasn’t helped. Myself and the team will surely look forward to seeing their first game with a full roster!
