Susijen…. Nah! Korisliiga is BACK!!
Time for the real fun to begin!
Summer is gone – and time to close the folder which holds International games, and time to embrace the domestic leagues!
One week and it’s GO TIME!
In 7 days and … two hours from typing this, the Korisliiga season tips-off with four games as. Vimpeli, Tapiola, Kouvola and Kotka host the first round of games at 18.30 on Wednesday 1st of October.

Women lead the way
Women start their season ahead of the men, and this season it does look like we will have a VERY exciting Korisliiga on the women’s side – I have been to few preseason games and there are some strong teams this season.
As always – things will only start to take shape after few months..

But from the games I’ve seen and results – EBT looks really strong for the early season, Peli-Karhut have lost some players and look different, but you always count them to be there, HBA are in a place with lots of returning players/students and addition of Anna Gardziella will make them an interesting team to watch. Not seen the team yet, but heard that ViVe are looking strong this season .. so we’ll see. ToPo have been one of the teams who have lost a lot – but winning games in preseason makes me think that the ‘new look’ ToPo will offer a good challenge this season.
Men start later
On the Men’s Korisliiga – this will not be a long write.
So much depends always on the four import players in Men’s Korisliiga – and you can watch all the YouTube highlights of players coming from college or elsewhere.. but before they have played through three weeks of Finnish November.. I hold my judgement on them.
Which goes to say – me talking about which team is looking good and which team is not.. it would almost like throwing a dice.. so let’s talk again in late November!!

Will someone sign Ekwere ??
This could be a wildcard for some Korisliiga team!! Last season Salon Vilpas signed Samu Adler from D1 team during the late summer.
How about this autumn, Aaron Ekwere plays at the MU19 series – but spent time at the Susijengi training camp over the summer.
Could a move to a Korisliiga team be on the cards for the youngster??
Not a coach or a player myself – so NO IDEA what would be best for his career, and I am sure he has good people giving him advice..
But – just throwing this out there … could Aaron Ekwere be a Korisliiga player in the 2025-25 season??
