Power Rankings – Korisliiga 1.0 (Men)
Now this was NOT easy!!
Wow, just trying to dig some results … on Korisliiga website there is a preseason tab with games/dates/results .. over there you have 17 games marked as having been played.
From those – for 11 (THAT IS ELEVEN !!) games, the teams have not notified the results..
So, had to go digging into the teams Social Media channels for results – even that did not make things easy.. so the Power Rankings are based on the results I know of – or managed to find information on.

Power Rankings – v1.0
1 – Kouvot ( 5-1 ) : You can’t argue with the results, on the fan forums and social media you read how Kouvot will have a tough season ahead of them. But, when you have played six games and taken five wins out of them – you DESERVE to be at the top of the first Power Rankings of the season!
2 – Salon Vilpas ( 3-0 ) : Another undefeated team of the preseason, so far, taking opening win vs Korihait and then sweeping their Hook Tournament 2-0 last weekend. Team that many are tipping to be in the top #2 of regular season, in the early games they are showing signs of possibly justifying these predictions.

3 – KTP ( 3-1 ) : It is looking good for the eagles of Kotka at this stage, plenty of new faces in the team, and looks like the coach has them playing well together in the preparation games. Winning three games – the team has the feel good factor ahead of the start of the season.
4 – KarhuBasket ( 1-2 ) : You get to fourth on the Power Rankings with a losing record?? Yes – KarhuBasket have played probably the toughest preseason games of any team. With a start in Sweden against SBL teams, coming away with a W and a L – then heading to BCL qualification (which I for one applaud the team taking part in – looks good for Finnish basketball that we participate in the qualifying.. even if at the moment qualifying for the Group stage is pretty distant dream) at which they made a quick exit.

5 – Bisons ( 2-2 ) : When the play good, they play good – but as it is preseason, there have been moments in games that have cost them the two games. Lots up in the air, and there is a big hole the size of Jeremiah Wood for the team to fill for the upcoming season.
6 – Seagulls (2-0) : You get only sixth with a clean record?? Yes! The opponents haven’t been the toughest ones for Seagulls, still – wins and wins and I wait to be proven wrong with this ranking in the coming weeks. But before Seagulls face a stronger opponent – you will find them here on the 6th place.
7 – Kobrat (1-0) : It was a win vs a D1 one team JBA, so that is why you find Kobrat on the lower half of the Power Rankings. The team has apparently also played preseason games in Sweden, but I could not find ANY information on who they played, where or results. These results would have of course moved their ranking up or down.
8 – Lahti Basketball (2-2) : With an update on results, Lahti Basketball jumped up few places from their initial position – this is why these Power Rankings are for entertainment purposes only. For Lahti – going 2-2 from their games after being promoted, got to give them credit and it is good for the team to get wins ahead of the season starting.
9 – KatajaBasket (1-1) : This is a harsh one, and I know it. Winning one and losing one at the Hook Tournament in Salo, it is not a bad record, especially looking at the way the team performed in Salo. But, other teams have been more in form so far, and as always – the team has the chance in the coming weeks to show my ranking to be totally stupid!

10 – Tampereen Pyrintö (1-1) : Another 50-50 team, only below Kataja by – what I look at as their opponents levels in the two games. This might be a team that I expect to make a jump up the rankings once the season gets going, nothing to base this on apart from just a gut feeling.
11 – Korihait (1-2) : It has not been the easiest start for the team from Uusikaupunki, but losing to Vilpas in the opening game and then the two games in Hook Tournament. The team has strengths and experience .. how long will Ville Tahvanainen stay and what sort of ‘damage’ can the big men Aalto ja Laihonen do in the league??

12 – Tapiolan Honka (0-3) : Updated – as got some kind results from somewhere that I hadn’t seen them .. so Honka went 0-3 .. until I hear otherwise? But they have another preseason game coming up – so could that be the W and jump up the rankings?
NOTE!
As said, I had extremely hard time the results and in some cases saw/knew that there were games being played, but could not find the results on websites or social media channels. But – you can only work with what you have been given…
Also the rankings are provided just for fun/entertainment purposes and are not supposed to be taken as any indication of any real level of the teams or their possible ability or where they are likely to finish in the league. The views and comments are only my own thoughts on how the teams have fared in the preseason – with mostly no detailed stats from the games – I do not want to mention any individual players on how they performed so far.
