Two long days done, one to still going!
Finnish Cup Final 4 – sponsored by Motonet (not sure do I need to mention here the sponsor..)
Just like for the players, the mid-season tournament comes as bit of a shock to the system – on Friday, two games with the second one tipping-off at 20.45… so I was still at the arena at around 23.00 doing the last video interviews and uploading stuff online for the Leagues Social media channels and stuff. Definitely past my bedtime those kind of ending times for games…
Then spending time at the hotel, which is never my favourite. Reasons being (sorry for the moan!) : rooms are too warm and NO air-con cooling is just not the same, getting allergic reactions to dust, finding empty beer cans behind some chairs, beds are weird and pillows the wrong height/hardness, blankets are too heavy and warm, there is no kitchen to cook my meals …
Was that enough of a moan 😉 I am more of a ‘stay at campervan’ kind of person for these kind of events – honestly if FIBA would allow me to park my car behind a game venue.. I’d gladly sleep in those during EuroBasket or World Cup events… But still – it is great to be covering the Cup Final 4 and so nice to meet players and basketball people at the Arena. Have some good chats, come up with some quirky ideas for new social media content for this Blog/website…
Second day of the tournament was the usual tournament kind of day, three games back to back – at the Arena from 10.30am to 10.30pm – shoot three games (stills and bit of video), do four video interviews, edit photos, post content on IG, X, Facebook – email images to people who need them. Just all in the day of a photographer. And naturally – no meals (and yes – my own choice really.. no one forces me not to eat!) during the day and then grabbing a hot dog from a kiosk on the way to the hotel at the railway station.
Nothing but healthy living for me 🙂
Sunday morning has been then more editing and publishing content – getting the images to the teams as well, so they can share stuff on their own channels – so far players haven’t written to me on IG too much… but maybe that will come at some point.
Suffering from bit of ‘photo blindness’ – so only chose one photo to go with this post. Just did not have the UMPHF! to go through any more at the moment.
Five games so far – decent set of archive images for Korisliiga to get through the rest of the season with, one more game to go and home tomorrow and back to waiting for few clients to get back to me about their plans/budgets for the months ahead… so I’ll get bit of clarity of the year ahead.
Also – might be some new plans cooking for a series of videos/posts .. so keep watching this space!! These might be tasty bits of content if I get them done!
