WU16 – Top of the table clash!
EBT WU17 vs Pyrintö WU16 – top of the table!
Before Saturday, EBT was leading all the girls youth Finnish Leagues, the WU19, WU17 and WU16 – all had EBT on the top of the table.
But how was it going to be at the end of the day?
EBT welcomed Tampereen Pyrintö to their home gym in Espoonlahti on the daytime game on Saturday. Both teams had some absences in their roster, probably due to flu or the players needed in other age groups… or something.
I was slightly disappointed that Pyrintö Head Coach Antero Lehto was not there – for that I would like to know why.. 😉

Pyrintö strong and big
From what little I have followed and photographed the youth leagues – here you can have games where the other team just are more physical or bigger. And that can make a HUGE difference, just like EBT had last week against Honka (I think that was WU17??).
This time Pyrintö just had more of a physical presence and that showed on court – EBT might have been the quicker team, but could not take advantage of that this time.
Games at this level can have BIG swings, so when the first ten went 16-28 and second 13-20. You still felt that maybe.. just maybe there was a game here. And EBT taking the quarter after the break 20-13.. it was still all open heading into the last 10.
But -Pyrintö were not to be denied, and in the end won the game by ELEVEN points 75-64.
So, a BIG win and at the same time, Tampereen Pyrintö climb to the top of the Finnish WU16 table, overtaking EBT (yes, EBT have TWO games in hand on Pyrintö, so can claim that #1 spot when both are at 13 games played). And even TikS can still climb up the table to challenge the Top 2
Stat Pack!
