Bonus post – it’s a dogs life
Right – this is just something I want/need to post about yesterday at the Nordic Championships, even if this really has nothing to do with basketball .. but as someone who owns a dog and just loves dogs in general, maybe one more post with these words on the internet will be worth something ..
This post also could be about how the Universe works in mysterious ways … and maybe there are reasons why you do certain things??
Yesterday I really only needed to be at the Täljehallen at 15.30 for the first Finland game (actually in the end didn’t NEED to be, as I found out during the day 😉 ) – but for some reason I went there at about 11.30. Who knows – just felt like I should go there then.

Kept doing some BTS footage for the little video clips, going in the arena, outside, the canteen.. so on.
Then saw some Sweden WU20 players leaving the arena and thought that’s a nice shot to film, so went to the parking lot and passed a car with windows slightly open.. and then I heard a dog crying inside that car. Now – as someone who own a dog, your alarm bells go on quite loudly now.. it’s about 28 degrees and sunny. I put my hand inside the car and it feels like a proper sauna and the dog keeps crying.
Not quite sure of the laws in Sweden regarding dogs and hot cars – I pop inside the Arena to tell the staff there, and they try to find the owner inside the venue.. no luck. We keep on trying to open the doors to the car to get to dog (a young puppy) out of there but despite reaching the handles, the doors won’t open.
After a while – luckily we manage to get the dog out of its travel bag, it hops to the front seat – someone pulls it out through the gap in the open window. But of course you know it’s not the safe a sound yet… she’s been in the hot car for some time and looks tired/wet/etc.
For the next two and half hours myself and Lilli (from the Arena staff) spend with the dog .. cooling it down and giving it water to drink, etc. And having some video of the dog when it was pulled out of the car, to when she was calmly sleeping on the floor of the office… wow, what a difference.
Luckily this story had a happy ending – and not sure of the laws in Sweden regarding this, but the way the police handled this.. hmm, can’t say if that was the right way.. or what is the right way. Hopefully the owner learned a lesson and maybe next time the little doggie can stay at home instead of the hot car… she might enjoy it a little bit more there. And if a dog chews a pair shoes while you are a way.. it’s a small price to pay for having your dog alive.
Why did I decide to make this post???
BECAUSE : DO NOT LEAVE DOGS ALONE IN THE CAR DURING THE SUMMER WHEN IT’S HOT AND SUNNY !!!!
