Mid-Week Basketball: Lou Basket vs MaHa Diamond Recap
Mid-week game in Lohja!
When you just don’t know how to take a day off!!
The camper van headed the short distance to Lohja (or Virkkala to be precise) and to capture the Women’s II Division Southern Region game between Lou Basket and MaHa Diamond.
Before the game, MaHa Diamond are chasing a … well, some sort of upper division spot for the spring, and Lou-Basket looking to get out of the bottom two.
And you would not think it – but I have actually shot MaHa Diamond before, that was in 2019 – and here’s a video to prove it!
That game was at the legendary MPH at Malmi, so enjoy the trip back a memory lane!
And there a little article I wrote about the game back in the day.. in 2019!
Sorry – we are having technical difficulties!
When you just NOW want to get some stats for the article from the ‘Tulospalvelu’ of Finnish Basketball, it is RIGHT NOW!! When it decides to have one of those “Sorry, don’t feel like loading the page for you right now!” moments.
What I do remember is that MaHa Diamond are on a three game winning run against Lou-Basket, so .. will it be four tonight?
Nights to remember
It is nights like this that make shooting basketball worth it, a small gym somewhere in small town Finland, two teams that you might never have seen before, players you don’t know.
Game
I liked it – the venue .. just WOW!! One of the newest that I’ve been to in Finland. The lights were great for photography. If/When LoU Basket get to Women’s D1 .. this venue is MORE than good enough! I will be back again!
Yes – game.. it was.. I mean, not saying whether it’s great tactics or what ever. But the young LoU Basket team really went for it in the opening 10 minutes and kept a nice lead almost the whole quarter, it was only at around 18 minutes played when the experience and physicality of MaHa Diamond started to show.
And after the visitors took the lead .. they pretty much kept it all the way to the end of the game. The 20 point gap in the end LoU Basket 55-76 MaHa Diamond, yes – of course it is what it should be, but also – a little harsh for LoU Basket.
In my ‘expert’ opinion – I would say that.. 13 point gap would have been ‘fair’ representation of the game.. but.. 21 it was.
