Saturday content part 2 – DriveAcademy vs ToPo
When I saw that there was a second game at the ‘Basketball Museum of Helsinki’… which some still call Kisahalli.. but most people refer to as ‘the museum’ … I decided to stay for Game #2 of Saturday evening. Also to see what kind of league is the U19 league in Finland.
Now – probably not a huge surprise, or maybe it is… but the U19 league is WAY more fast paced, highflying, etc than the Korisliiga… I mean, I ain’t one to talk about the level of the game.. the skills of the players, the tactics. Who knows about those.. but for a photo/videographer … the 35minutes I shot at the U19 game.. offered me more dunks/alley-oops than the first six months of Korisliiga put together. And yes – of course it depends on the games one attends… so maybe I have been unlucky. Just this one game made me decide that more U19 basketball is needed in front of my cameras!

Another thing that stood out for me – was that the age range of spectators was something that would be really cool to see replicated (and is seen in few places) in Korisliiga .. lots of young people in the stands.. which was cool to see .. just need to get these kids (sorry, young adults 😉 ) into some of the Korisliiga/Susijengi games as well..
Content wise – better luck than in the #1 game of the day, still images still a bit lacking in the UMPH! that I like, videos … as said, had to cut some of the dunks away as there were too many!! And one lovely ‘Dinner is served’ Alley-Oop dunk that would definitely be on any Top10 plays video of the top league.
But – as I said… not an expert to judge the level of play, players, tactics and yada, yada, yada .. so on. But purely from the media content side of things… U19 definitely came out with some FIRE stuff last night.
Happy to have stayed behind for this one – except that when walking to the car, I stumbled on a small ramp and son found myself all banged up and scratched on the pavement.. so a bit of a downer for otherwise nice day! Still haven’t dared to look at my A7IIIs and Tampon 35-150mm lens… as they also clattered on the pavement…
