12 days of basketball – Tübingen – Aatu and co

Really running out of excitement for hotel life at the moment – booked these myself, and some decent ones.. but a night here and then the next night somewhere else, it does takes it’s toll after almost two weeks.

Saturday got to mess about with car rentals, which had changed the day before.. but then the rental company had changed them, believing it to be as I asked.. but not checking the DATE I emailed them..

But luckily the friendly and helpful person at the rental company arranged me to get a car for the day when I arrived at the desk – not always you can say that about car rental places, so a positive one this one was!

Only a short 30min drive to Tübingen and before the game have a chance to take a little walk in the forest, and WOW!! have I just missed walking in the forest, too much concrete jungle over the past weeks. So even the forest paths along the busy road.. they were just what I needed. Just walking there amongst the trees seemed to recharge some part of me.

Unfortunately the stay in the forest wasn’t long. as it was time to drive down and head to the game.

First time I had bit of trouble finding where to get in and when to get in to the arena – but after seeing another photographer walk into the venue… decided that it was a good bet to follow him. Got in and surprised the head coach of the home team (he’s Finnish) .. look on his face was proper surprise as he saw me standing behind the bench and coming to say Hi!

Quick hello to Aatu as well – and then finding out that ANOTHER Finn is in the building as Miikka Luosmaa was there.. so nice long chat with him as well.

Game itself a small struggle to photograph, as I do want to leave the best places to the local photographers who are there week-in week-out.. and having to shoot bending down over the LED boards.. not the ideal position – but doable. For the second half I found some other lower down perspectives to shoot from.

Really apart from the game – I can’t find anything to say about this day.. guess something happened, but what?? Goodness knows… tomorrow of to Italy for the last game of the tour..
