Iceland win a thriller vs Denmark
No doubt – game of the tournament, so far!
Now this game reminded me why I like to shoot basketball so much!
So, a BIG thank you to Denmark and Iceland for serving the game of the tournament in Södertälje!
Swings and roundabouts…
Before the tournament I was told that Denmark have ‘ a problem ‘ with third quarters in their games – and the two games so far have proved it to be so.
Yesterday it happened vs Sweden and today Denmark dug themselves into a huge hole again on the third quarter.
Talking points
Keeping it simple, with few bullet points from my point of view on the baseline.
- Iceland come out big in 3rd quarter to take the game
- Iceland #4 Kolbrun Maria Armannsdottir’s 4th foul almost cost them the game
- Denmark take initiative on the 4th quarter and bring the game level
- Iceland #7 Rebekka Steingrimsdottir come good with some HUGE plays on the final quarter
- Iceland #8 Emma Snaebjörnsdottir – take about some ice cold stares!!
- Denmark’s 3rd quarter ‘curse’ strikes again

This game really had it all – I don’t want to be boring and talk about this player making so many points or what ever…
This game was just perfect for the thrill of it – you never knew who was going to win it until the final buzzer – you almost expected there to be ONE final twist in the game.
So once again – a BIG thank you to all the players from Iceland and Denmark – you really made the headlines on Sunday in Södertälje!!!
