Team of the Week – Korisliiga (women) 5

There were some excellent performances in Korisliiga (women) this week and not all of the players who helped their teams to win made it to the team.

So – making some explanations in the end why certain players did NOT get into the team – just to give some context to the decision by the stats!

Team of the week – for Game Week 05 (and I can already reveal, there is NO Carmen Tyson-Thomas in the team this week, which might come as a huge shock to everyone!

CENTER : Tyson-Thomas might be missing from the Forward position, but TARU TUUKKANEN of TOPO keeps building her stats and makes it two appearances in the team in a row now! Weeks second highest points total and absolutely no contest on this spot – the next best points total in the Center position was less than HALF of what TUUKKANEN scored !

FORWARDS : Here, some high scorers again – as tends to be on the forward position. On the wings of this weeks team we have AUDREY WARREN of VIVE for her performance against HBA on Friday evening in Helsinki, really being a key player in the game and helping ViVe get the W by five points in the end. She is joined by another player from a game earlier in the week, as CHANIN RAHMING of KOUVOTTARET gets a nob to the team with her performance and also her score was the highest of the week – as well as the highest of the whole SEASON so far!!

GUARDS : We have to players well used to getting high minutes and high scores in the league in the back court – as we welcome LAUREN HEARD of Peli-Karhut to the team again, and she gets company from KAYLA SHAW of PYRINTÖ – both players were heads and shoulders above competition for this spot in the team.

So all in all we had three players who have been in the team before – and two first timers.

Now – I know I will be asked WHY WHY!! is Saana Kujala not in the Team of the Week – her performance was so solid and how could other players score more than her in the points! The answer, as so often tends to be, is TURN OVERS!! Kujala had SIX turnovers in the game on Saturday and they brought her down a lot – also both Warren and Rahming really had ‘out of this world’ stats from their games – if Kujala would have had only FOUR turnovers – that would have been enough to tip the scales. And yes – I could have had three forwards in the team and only one guard … but in name of fairness, I will keep the team as C-F-F-G-G for the season…. and yes, I do think Kujala had a MONSTER game and should have been in the team!
