Player of the month – Korisliiga (women) – October 2024
Now this could be an extremely short post, but I’ll stretch it a little.
There was one player above all others this month, and the name should not be a surprise to anyone who has followed the games in October.
Player in question is topping the tables in so many categories that even writing them down would be a whole post on the website.
But there have been numerous players who have stood out for me this month in single games or just a whole performance through out the month.
Unfortunately the Statistics or Game Log pages for the Korisliiga (women) are not functioning at the website at the moment – I did get the men’s stats to work. But the league/federation started to move the stats to another server … well, that’s a whole thing I understand nothing about.
But – due to the lack of the stats/game log page – it is hard and time consuming to get individual players stats easily up.. or I just haven’t found the way.
Picking up some players who’ve impressed me, and love to see so many Finnish players on the list – from EBT I could pick up so many players – but so that I won’t list the whole team, two players whose performances I’ve been checking – are Erika Mace and Sanni Tuomisto .. just goes to show that when given the playing time and responsibilities – good things can happen! Mace has been a whirlwind on the assists (leads the league!) and in steals (second in league). The other player from EBT is Sanni Tuomisto – she was really one of the hottest players few years ago and it seems this season she has started on FIRE right from the start.
From the league new comers, BC Nokia, you have to give a shout out to Ellen Järvinen, best Finnish player on the scoring – and maybe we’ve not yet seen the best of her this season. I have a feeling that this could a season where we really see her stats grow!
You’ve all come here to see who the Player of the Month for October is – so let’s get to it then.
Her team has played less games than others, she has scored more points than anyone else.. she is really enjoying her role at the team (or at least it looks like it!) and when your team is 4-0 after the first month, what is there not to like!!
What I have said time and again, when you have foreign players staying in the league/country for multiple years, their game evolves and they get to be better year after year. If one player at the start of this season shows this in Korisliiga (women) – it is the one and only !!! CARMEN TYSON-THOMAS of ToPo !!!!

In the four game – which have maybe not been against the toughest of opponents.. but you can only play the games that are there in front of you! Tyson-Thomas averages as follows
- 32 minutes per game
- 29 points per game
- 14 rebounds per game
- 6 assists per game
- 3 steals per game
- 0.5 blocks per game
With those stats – you do VERY well in any months running to be the Player of the Month!
The next three games for Tyson-Thomas and ToPo will be a true measure where their early season form takes them, as they play against Tapiolan Honka (home 2nd of November), Peli-Karhut (away 13th of November) and EBT (away 16th of November) – if the team is 7-0 after these three games, their title defence is starting to look rather strong!
