Team of the week 47 – Korisliiga

End of another week, and another stellar starting five for Korisliiga this week, this week it was the time of forwards to dominate the nominations for places in starting five. With lack of outstanding performances by the back court guards, or centers – apart from the ones who made it to the Starting 5 of the week.

So, the All Star 5 / Team of the Week is as follows :

Rene Rougeau (F) KarhuBasket : The experienced Rougeau made it to the team from his performance vs Uusikaupunki this week. This was his best performance of the season so far, in Korisliiga. Showing that he is warming up and taking the big role in the team that coach Laakso surely wants him to take. More performances like this, and KarhuBasket will be climbing up the table towards the top rather soon.

Okko Jarvi (F) KarhuBasket :  Another KarhuBasket player in the team this week, Okko made his All Start 5 performance this week on the road trip to Nokia, where his performance against the ‘Twin Towers” in Nokia’s defence helped Karhu to an impressive road win. Sinking 11 out of his 13 shots from inside the arc – his game was on the flow mode. And great to see young Finnish players making their way into the team… hopefully we will see more performances like this from Jarvi in the coming months!

Eron Harris (G) Pyrinto : This weeks first player from Pyrinto, and where as we have gotten used to his team mate Jaylon Tate making the team, this week it was Harris who performed the better out of the two. Sharing the responsibility with Tate and playing 37 minutes, as Pyrinto bounced back from losing to Ura Basket – it showed the character of the team, who is more used to hitting 100 points against the opponents.

Brian Asbury (C) – Kouvot : Doing everything on the court as Kouvot traveled to Helsinki and came back with the two points – as they took a comfortable win vs Seagulls. Asbury has been a great addition to Kouvot since arriving there – and with Korisliiga experience, he is hitting big numbers week in week out.

Kenneth Manigault (F) – Pyrinto : Another returnee to the Team of the Week – Manigault didn’t miss much as Pyrinto took the win vs Kobrat. And as with Asbury and Rougeau… it helps him as a player as he has played in the Korisliiga for more than one season. And playing smart and being able to get the free throws in sticky situations, as you know how the refs call the game, so getting 10 free throws in this game, was crucial for Pyrinto.

The bench : Khalil Small (G) – Kobrat, Marius Van Andringa (F) – Korihait – Malik Dime (C) Ura Basket – Jaylon Tate (G) – Pyrinto – Jamie Skeen (F) – Vilpas – Christopher Ortiz (C) – Seagulls – Antonio Ballard (F) – Vilpas
