Team of the Week 44 – Naisten Korisliiga
Another week has rolled by in the Naisten Korisliiga, with only five games having been played all week – there was rather simple way to find my starting five for this weeks Team of the Week.

So here goes :
Delaney Hodgins (EBT) : Hodgins had a outstanding game on Halloween as EBT fought a close game vs Catz. With the last quarter come back, Hodgins and EBT came from 8 points behind to clinch the game with the last second buzzer beater from Hodgins herself. Her 28 points and 9 rebounds (I counted 10 myself – but am not official stats person 😉 ) – and her defensive performance. Hodgins deservedly takes her place in this weeks starting five!
Taeler Deer (Kouvottaret) : Deer, who player for Kouvottaret, played a crucial role in their only game of the week, as HBA came to visit. 30 points, 100% shooting from the charity stripe and working hard for almost 28 minutes against the energetic HBA team – Deer comes to call the plays from the backcourt in this weeks team.
Sidney Cook (Honka) : Last years losing bronze medal team hasn’t had the easiest start to this season. But on Thursday evening the team ground the win vs the freshly promoted ToPo team. Cook played a HUGE double-double game, with 25 points and 19 boards! You can’t argue with stats like that. Cook has been one of the stand out players in Honka this season, and has recorded a double-double in all but one her seven games in Finland. Expect to see this name appearing regularly on this list.
Henna Salomaa (HyPo) : Another 100% free throw shooter in our Team of the Week, Salomaa sunk all 8 of hers in the longest of away trips, as HyPo went to Vimpeli during the week. In total, 22 points in the 96-90 win for the bronze medal team from last year. And all this from coming off the bench and playing a ‘mere’ 20 minutes 🙂 Salomaa has had a slightly slow start, by her standards, to the season – but really exploded in the game this week.
Brittany Starling (PeKa) : Only two games into her spell in Finland, Starling is already making herself a name in the league. Where as her stats might not have been as impressive as in her opening game, against the strong FoA team – Starling knocked down 20 points with 75% success from 2 point range. She is also showing herself to be a strong presence at the paint, with almost 10 rebounds per game. A good addition to the PeKa squad, who have struggled at the start of the season.
Off the bench : Daisha Simmons (PeKa), Taru Tuukkanen (HyPo), Amy Griffin (ViVe), Kaisa Kuisma (Honka), Awak Kuier (HBA), Claire Lamunu (Kouvottaret), Aleigsha Welch (Catz)
