Korisliiga (women) Team of the Week 03
Sunday morning is a good time to write up the Team of the Week posts, and actually Women will only play the next round of games on Saturday 26th of October, so a long week without games. Well – there is PeKa playing in the EuroCup Women, so definitely going there!
Only one player makes a return to the Team of the Week from last week, so four new faces get the call-up for the Team of the Week for Naisten Korisliiga!!
Let’s start, as always – from under the basket!
CENTER : There really was only one person you can consider for this spot this week, didn’t matter if you took her first game of the week, or the second game of the week. Both would have earned her the #1 spot on the Team of the Week for Naisten Korisliiga. Take a bow Shaquiel Mcgruder of KOUVOTTARET !!! Two absolute monster game to help her team go 2-0 this week in the games vs HBA and PeKa. I’ve said it before and will say it again, with the fact that the import players have played in Finland before – it does help their performance a great deal, and Mcgruder is just one more example to showcase this!
FORWARDS : Two very different players from two very different teams take spots in this category – MAGDALENE AGYEI of TOPO gets her first call to the Team of the Week as he had a very solid game earlier in the week, she is joined there with a player who has been putting up the stats (but as you need to be in the winning team to get the nomination) in most of the games this season, but now gets her first place in the team AUDREY WARREN of VIVE is the second person on the wings/forward positions this week.
EDIT !!! – Some eagle-eyed reader sent me a message – and looks like there was a glitch on the stats when I looked at them last night, so – instead of taking a player away and replacing them – due to this, I am adding an extra person to the Team of the Week after her MONSTER performance last night .. another visit to the team by CARMEN TYSON-THOMAS of TOPO!!
GUARDS : First – one player who I personally am very happy to see get a place in the team, and also that she is playing extremely well at the moment! From EBT, we have not one of the young players, but more experienced as SANNI TUOMISTO of EBT gets a place on the back court of the Team of the Week, and joined there she has the company of the Triple-Double player of the week as CIERRA WALKER of HONKA holds her place in the team after getting the place there last week.
