Team of the Week 01 – Naisten Korisliiga
New season – same score…
To get the new season going, let’s start the ‘Team of the Week’ rankings again.
Week 01

- Nicole Ogun (EBT) – super performance on the opening day to help EBT start the season with a win, new season – same team and same team-mates, looking forward to seeing EBT being a tough team to handle in the opening rounds of the season! Also few players, like Nicole – will definitely be ones to watch all season long!
- Anna Gardziella (HBA) – moving teams to the other side of the railroad tracks in Helsinki, Gardziella started the season with a BANG!! as HBA took a big win on the opening night. Gardziella more than earned her spot on the roster this week.
- Lauren Heard (PeKa) – As I always say at this point, the difference it makes when your import players have already played in the league before. Heard continued from where she left off last season, also wearing the captains ‘arm band’ for her team this season – she will be expected to be a leader in more than just scoring.
- Mona Pasanen (HBA) – Young talent shines in the opening round of the Naisten Korisliiga, Pasanen was unstoppable in the opening game – and with Koskela and Talonen sidelined for HBA – Pasanen stepped up to the mark and her performance vs Honka was one of the highlights of the opening night.

- Delanie Crawford (PeKa) – Only ‘newcomer’ in the first team of the week, but having watched her in the game vs HBA (which earned her the spot in the team of the week) – it looked like she could be one of ‘the’ signings of the season in Naisten Korisliiga. Reaching the same amount of points in both of PeKa’s games this week – well earned spot in the Team of the Week
Team of the week – based on what?
As previous years, I am basing the Team of the Week to certain stats – as it would be impossible to watch all the games and make informed choices based on ‘performance’. Therefore using a stats-line to choose the team of the week – is the fairest way to do it.
One key factor for being eligible for a spot in the team, is that the team need to have a win , and your stats will only count from a game that you have won. So if you wonder why your 50 point game didn’t get you spot…. wait!! Scrap that.. yes, if you have a monster game and your team loses.. I will consider making an exception 🙂
