Your Vote: MVP Candidates of the WU18 Nordic Championships

Players, coaches and photographers are taking it a little bit easier today in Södertälje – so thought to post another content filler for the evening – as players are preparing to tuck-in their dinners at the team hotel (and I am looking at the field full of cows outside my camper van in the fields…)
The contenders
In alphabetical order :
- Hulda Agnarsdottir – Iceland
- Kolbrun Armannsdottir – Iceland
- Laura Grünmann – Estonia
- Ebba Jägre – Sweden
- Erika Mace – Finland
- Jessi Nenonen – Finland
It is unfair that the list is based on stats – but really, I do not have the technical knowhow to look at a players all-round performance and go.
‘ Oh, I like the way she cuts while her team hedges the 2-to-1 lock after a pin down and takes the slip to tag at the basket…. ‘
So – stats it is .. all these players have put up big numbers in NUMBER of different categories and are at the top, or top 3 in most of them.
- Jessi you find tops Points Scored, Efficiency, +/-.. and so on
- Hulda tops the steals (a stat that I always find impressive – steals are like candy!)
- Erika is top of assists table, coaches always appreciate the players who think of their teammates.
- Laura tops minutes played and average minutes per game – which tells how the coach trusts her to play big time.
- Ebba is not at the top spot in any stats – but so close in many that she earns a spot here with the versatility.
- Kolbrún Maria – same as Ebba, but with her I do also go with some of things I’ve seen on the court and how she comes up with big plays – and it doesn’t hurt her cause that her ice cold nerves in front of the Swedish bench and women’s NT last night held to make 2 out of 2 from the line.
