Naisten Korisliiga – Team of the Week 4

Late Saturday here and stats counting from all the Box Score sheets of the day.. and here is this weeks Team of the Week for Naisten Korisliiga!

Sorry to keep this short – need my beauty sleep (well – sleep to recover and rest as my HR person in Kauhajoki said after the game today – you know who you are!!)

This will be last Team of the Week for October – even if there is still a game to be played during this month, but not all teams are playing before the end of the month.

CENTER : This week the position for Center did not get much competition, and it didn’t take too many points to top this category, but I insist on getting a C – F – F – G – G line-up each week. So will always find the top center of the week – this week it goes to a person who just keeps on grinding from year to the next. She was also one of the first players I flew to shoot playing abroad all those years ago.. for her part in ToPo winning this week – under the basket we have TARU TUUKKANEN ( THE LEGEND!!!!)

GUARDS : These nominations give me great pride to write down, in these listings we see lot of the imports taking the spots and honours – but for the GUARDS this week, we have two players who both came BIG as their teams took the wins. ERIKA MACE of EBT – had a great game as EBT beat HBA in the late tip-off on Saturday in Espoonlahti. I remember being there when she played her first Korisliiga game and I think she made the first 5 or 6 three point shots in her debut!! The other place on the back court goes to ELLEN JÄRVINEN of BC NOKIA – back from missing some action, she helped the new comers in Korisliiga to their FIRST WIN of the season, with a massive performance – definitely deserved and glad to see two Finnish players taking the back court in this weeks TEAM OF THE WEEK.

FORWARDS : Both from teams that already have representation in this weeks Team, we have our regular from ToPo – CARMEN TYSON-THOMAS, making her THIRD appearance this season in the Team of the Week!! I can’t find any words anymore .. and probably just should write her name on the list automatically each week! The other place goes to MARI STEWART of TAMPEREEN PYRINTÖ who helped Pyrintö to beat ViVe by ONE point in Vimpeli today.
