Naisten Korisliiga – Team of the week 01

With Men’s Korisliiga having their last game day of the week yesterday, women had theirs on Sunday with the last two games of the opening round, except Peli-Karhut who played twice this week. But the points counted by individual game, so there is no benefit in that way of playing twice instead of once.

There was two BIG performances early in the round for two players who scored big on points and in the ‘formula’ that decides who gets into the Team of the Week.

So – the first Team of the Week for Women’s Korisliiga is as follows :

Center : from the opening game of the season, Peli-Karhut big center Jade Williams made it to the team with so far the lowest score (men’s and women’s combined) that has earned a place in the team – but the center spot in the team goes to JADE WILLIAMS or PELI-KARHUT.

Guards : two guards who really made a mark in the opening round, one player is a rookie and the other has already spent two seasons in these shores playing in the Naisten Korisliiga. Unlike in the Men’s team – this week the guards did not celebrate with high scores … but the two players who have made it to the first Team of the Week are : RESHAWNA STONE of KOUVOTTARET and LAUREN HEARD of PELI-KARHUT. Stone in her second season with Kouvottaret knows the league in and out, and the opponents know her game .. despite this she keeps being a key player for her team, and Heard making a splash in her opening game in Finland is a player who will be making waves this year in Finland (and EuroCup !!)

Forwards : Here we have the stand out player of the week, player who’s name has been on social media almost since the first minutes of her teams game yesterday and the other, once a gain a player who has spent more than one season in Finland. So – without any delay – the two players in the Forward spots are CARMEN TYSON-THOMAS of ToPO, with YET another major game and the other spot with a debut in Naisten Korisliiga that will not be easily forgotten GRACE JONES of TAPIOLAN HONKA.
