What what WHAT has been happening in the past weeks under the #korisliiga …
Let’s take a look!
Korisliiga will be a duller place this coming season after one of the legends of the Finnish game, Juho Nenonen announced that he will be hanging up his boots and moving on to new things .. a definite character both in the Finnish Korisliiga and Susijengi.. he will be missed!
Another news was the decision to change the way people can apply for permits to stay/work in Finland .. although there has been some discussion later whether athletes/sportspersons will be excluded from this… it’s all politics. But the thing that was talked about was the now you would have to apply for the permit from the country you are a citizen of… which would mean extra hassle and costs for the teams during the season.. but as said, it’s all politics and not quite sure what’s what…
Media days have started across the league (kind of sad that for the first time in 17 years it is not me behind the cameras.. but times change and you gotta move on with them)
More politics… the clubs received help from the government (or some sort of official body anyways.. but as said.. politics!!) and now they are wanting to reclaim the assistance money back as they claim clubs haven’t sufficiently displayed how they correctly used the money.. But – once again… politics are always messy and once again.. not sure what the real deal here is.
Another newsworthy Tweet was that the Finnish Korisliiga hired their first professional referee, which got the Twitter/X folk asking .. what is the difference between a referee and a professional referee.
On the player front – maybe the biggest news was that Topias Palmi is signing to play for his home town team Pyrintö at the start of the season, with a clause in the contract to allow moving abroad if an offer comes.
There was also a LOT of hype around the 17-year old Samu Adler and his performance over the last preseason game… plenty of videos going around from that and some bigger news media making stories/features out of him… you might even see a 60 second video of Adler right here on these pages if you look for it 😉
