Women’s preseason tip-off in Forssa

Double game weekend on the preseason trail in the last two days.

On the way back from Kauhajoki, stopped in Forssa for the first game (that I know of) in the women’s preseason with Forssan Alku taking on the new kids on the block BC Nokia.

Another game that definitely spelled ‘preseason’ for those who were watching the game, both teams had their runs in the game and tried different things regardless of what the scoreboard said. But hey – that is what preseason is for… for the players to get to know each other and coaches to see whether the things that have been worked on in the training sessions actually work in real game situations.

Home team came out on top in this game as well, although having lead by almost 20 points (if I remember correctly).. the end of the game was probably closer than the home teams coach would have liked.

Many new faces on the court and with no stats sheet (cause I was too lazy to pick one up!!!) – the names did not stick yet in game one, but there were plenty of players who one can see making big stats during the season – as well as some youngsters who have performed well for their age group national team over the summer – and now need to show up against players much older and physical than they are.

But I do have a feeling that this season the league to watch in Finland might be the Women’s Korisliiga – sure the men’s game will over you few dunks and stuff like that… but for the close games and excitement… I am placing my bets this season for the Women’s Korisliiga (and not to forget the GREAT step that Peli-Karhut are making and competing in the FIBA EuroCup regular season!!!

Here are few photos and a minute long video reel from the game last night…

That’s it until the next game!!!
