New attendance record for Vilpas in 2 O.T game
Returning from Baltic Sea Cup duties to the hum&drum of Korisliiga on Saturday evening for the And1-tournament Korisliiga game between Salon Vilpas and Kouvot – to begin one knew that the attendance was going to be good for the game as the junior tournament players got a free ticket to the game, but what one did not know that it was going to be well past bedtime for some of the younger fans when the game EVENTUALLY ended after two long over-times.
Game itself pretty much only came alive in the last 30 seconds of the regular time, and very knowledgeable young fans behind me when there was 15 seconds on the clock and Vilpas was leading by 5 or 7 points. They knew a lot can happen in a game of basketball in that time… what happened??
Poor turnover, poor foul on three pointer, an unreal three pointer…. and over time!
New attendance record for Vilpas now stands at 2411 – which Korisliiga standards in pretty hard to beat – probably only two venue can get to that. Unless you count playoffs which some teams take to ice rinks and stuff.
For me – the game was mainly trying to capture many shots with plenty of fans/crowd on the background - as it isn’t YET an everyday occurance when over 2000 fans are watching a game… but the crowds are going up once again so things are looking positive.
With the playoffs looming in few months… this is great build-up for that!
