Battle of the Academies in Jyväskylä
Rarely do I get to say that it was an easy day on the road, guess the late night driving paid off on Thursday as I got to spend most of it in Jyväskylä – finishing the Netflix series (Between) as I had about an episode and half to go on it. As the weather was so crap that venturing outdoors just wasn’t worth it…(or maybe I was just lazy??)
In the evening it was time to do some Men’s 1st Division playoffs – with the Battle of Academies in the quarter-finals, with JBA, Jyväskylä taking on HBA, Helsinki.
And these guys keep running the court – you put these guys against Korisliiga teams… I think the Korisliiga coaches would like 4 timeouts per quarter, so their players could keep up and take a rest 😉 In all honesty, this was fast paced basketball, with end to end stuff for 40 minutes. Would be interesting to see a combined Academy team taking on some Korisliiga teams in some games, just to see how it would be..
Atmosphere at the game was really great, and not sure if it is a Jyväskylä thing, but the crowd at the game was definitely a lot younger than at Korisliiga games.. love to see that the kids and teenagers are coming to the games and really enjoying the games. At times I found the camera just automatically turning to the crowd after each basket – can’t say I always feel the need for that in Korisliiga.. so really loved to see this in a game!

One disappointing thing though was this … maybe someone could explain it to me :
In the warm up, all the players keep on doing dunks left/right/center.. then the game starts.. and I don’t think I saw a single dunk in the game! Come on guys – don’t waste all your energy in the warm-up for the dunks, save some for the photographer in the game. You guys also made it look so effortless in the warm-up – so I was hoping that there would be at least 5 dunks in the game…. teaches me to expect anything.
After the game – two hours on the road to ABC in Juva, the side roads are still way to covered in deep snow-porridge, so just not worth the risk of driving those.
Decent night of sleep, no snowploughs this time and with there being a small ‘Matkaparkki’ here – was nice and peaceful all night, one other camper over here.. amongst all the trucks.
Heading to Kitee today – and over there it is back to the promoshoots for Superpesis/Ykkköspesis .. late one tonight and sort of struggling to find a good place to stop and sleep for tonight.. I do have about 500 kilometres to drive from tonight to tomorrows photoshoot location – so need to think of that.
So – any good suggestions for places to park a camper between Kitee and Kannus ??? All suggestions are welcome 🙂
