Player of the Month – Randi Brown
So – then my choice for Naisten Korisliiga player of the month – this one was a close call between so many talented and good players this month. But, in the end the choice just had to be Randi Brown of HyPo – topping the table, winning night after night.
I’ve been lucky enough to see quite a few HyPo games this season, and Brown is just sort of a ‘silent assassin’. In one game, I thought she wasn’t having a good game (well, I am a photographer and don’t see the whole game as such) – but then I looked at the board.. and she had almost 20 points … where did they come from??? So she gets the job done, but isn’t always a flashy player who you notice as such.
When you average about 25 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists per game – you can’t be playing too badly 🙂 – So, well done Randi… great player and Naisten Korisliiga is grateful to have a talent like you with us!
Other players that were in contention for this, Brown’s team mate Taru Tuukkanen, just little less on the stats, even if she plays a big part otherwise in the team. Mia Loyd of FoA is always there or there about… and is without a question the best player in the league (in my opinion), Kouvot duo, Claire Lamunu and Taeler Deer were also in the mix until the final round of the month. Sidney Cook from Honka – as she has really stepped up big time to get Honka’s season back on track. Finally the fearsome-twosome from Catz, Sydney Wallace and Aleigsha Welch.. they are just killing it on the court.
From the list above, almost any of those players would be good enough to be the Player of the Month – but in November (short on games due to International break!) – the nod went to fiery little player from Houma … Randi Brown!
