Referee – always there!
Referees always there, never in the lead role
For the past month, I have been covering the ‘lower leagues’ of Finnish Basketball, and my respect for the work that referees do – has always been there.
But tonight, for some reason thought how they are always there on the background of my images. Playing an important role, and yes – sometimes they do get in front of my view!
And I see it often, but today it really struck me – how the referees did have time to explain decisions to players during and after the game.
Of course players/coaches and referees do NOT always see eye-to-eye during the games.
But I do see lots of mutual respect between them after the action on the court has subsided.
So – just a little post saying THANK YOU to all the refs around the different leagues – and also! Big thank you to always taking time to explain to me when I ask silly/stupid questions about why something is/isn’t a foul.
I might not say it – but I always respect the job you do!
