Cooking with Korisliiga – Brunch with Hop
Little bit of fun, and combining my old job of being a Chef, to my new job … doing something with many cameras and computers.. so few episodes of cooking show with Korisliiga players (and yes, whether it is Women’s or Men’s league.. for me it is still just Korisliiga) filmed a while back and trying to get them online over the coming weeks.
The video plays the main role here and is the ‘entertainment’ – I might then add few cheeky comments in the text, to share my views and opinions on their cooking and the taste of the food (in the places I got to taste the cooking).
Without any more delay – below is the video of Shawn Hopkins of KarhuBasket – cooking his speciality – a Sunday Brunch.
One sunny Sunday – I visited Shawn Hopkins in Kauhajoki, and followed as he prepared a Sunday Brunch – with plenty of help from the little one in the family.
On the Menu were : Pancakes (American style), Nutella, Nuts, Banana, Berries, Grapes, Bacon, Omelette, Croissants … so a good variety of ingredients to challenge young Hopkins in the kitchen.
Observations 😉 – Nutella was the Nutella brand, so definitely full points for that. Other brands are available but this one was promised, and delivered!
Bacon – to be honest, his reasoning why to make it in the oven were solid and the bacon was nice ‘rispsakka’ so can’t fault the technique or taste at all. Personally, I do still prefer to cook my bacon on the pan or under a grill. But – well done Shawn, your oven cooked bacon did deliver!
Pancakes – right from the get-go a little points reduction for making the pancakes from a mixture, and personal choice of the style of pancake for me is the more crepe kind. But – once again – it might be a ready made mixture and ‘wrong’ kind to tickle my tastebuds .. but they were nice and scrumptious with just the right thickness for a healthy spread of Nutella!
Cheese Omelette – definitely showing his cooking skills here, lovely amount of egg/cheese.. so that the omelette stayed nice and soft.. and with a lovely crunch of cheese on the top. Full marks for this!
Presentation – well thought out and relaxed presentation of items.
Taste – Can you go wrong with anything containing Nutella?? This Chefs opinion is that you can not! So just by adding Nutella to the table.. one knew it was going to be a winner! But in all honesty, a really tasty bit of Sunday Brunch in Kauhajoki prepared by Shawn. I would definitely come again if invited – although the next time it will be my turn to cook.. and maybe have the ‘doggie’ with me as well.
Full marks for Shawn for cooking, entertainment, etc …
