Saturday content – part 1 – ToPo-Pyrintö

Back to Women’s Korisliiga on Saturday in Helsinki – with ToPo vs Pyrintö the game. Game that beforehand did promise a lot, that during the game promised a lot – but in the end, did not deliver THAT much. Not that the game wasn’t entertaining… so don’t get me wrong.

Question on everyone’s lips is ‘ Can ToPo go undefeated all season – including playoffs? ‘

The simple answer is, the CAN do it.. as they haven’t lost a single game in the first 3/4 of the regular season, and rarely have been pushed very hard. Looking at the schedule for the last six rounds of the regular season, in my view there are TWO games that can be potential games where ToPo might encounter their first defeat of the season .. but so much depends always what kind of form both teams are on the day.

First – and the only one I will mention.. and hey, this is just my opinion – and there are better people to answer these questions 🙂 But – next weekend is a possible to see an ‘upset’ .. why?? Because ToPo play back-to-back away games, first on Friday vs the youthful HBA team and then on Saturday against Kouvottaret in Kouvola. Back-to-back games are everyday in the NBA – but in Korisliiga, not so much. So to have the Friday game finish around 20.20 in the evening and Saturday game tipping-off at 17.00 in Kouvola .. depending on how much effort Friday’s game will take… the fresh legs of Kouvottaret might count for something on Saturday (or then not!)

Keep your eyes open on the baseline – never know when you need to block a pass!

As for the content from the game – photos : which for some reason I wasn’t quite happy with this time, somehow the timing seemed to be off, the colors (well, the game was at the Basketball Museum of Helsinki!) were kinda strange… just not my best game. Video : edited a 50 second Reel so that it was on IG about 3 minutes after the end of the game… so basically uploading while players were walking into the locker room. And also the one ‘funny clip’ that is nice to get from games … this time Kayla Shaw ‘chucking’ the ball straight from the arc .. and only my ‘lightning’ reactions saved me from getting battered by a flying ball…. little was I to know that few hours later both myself and my camera were flying and laying bruised on the streets in Helsinki (so we’ll see when there is next video content !! hopefully the camera and lens are OK!)

Keep repeating myself – but covering the Women’s game in Finland really is fun – just a shame that there is usually only ONE game day every week… but guess that makes it just that little more special!
