Korisliiga is back … well, it will be on Friday
The glamour of international basketball during the summer is slowly fading and the 10.000 seater arenas are slowly being replaced by the ‘main stay’ of basketball – which is the domestic game.
No more 14 hour flights to the other side of the world, instead … a rear numbing 10 hour drive across Finland .. there are people who prefer one over the other 😉
No more big arenas and thousands of spectators, instead few hundred fans at the local sport hall wooden benches (and some cold air seeping through the gap in the door… although NOTHING will beat the freezing BBL venue in Manchester all those years ago.. man, that was FREEZING!!!!).
But, this is the bread&butter of basketball and in many ways so much more interesting and unpredictable than the summer.. so both have their places in my calendar and I enjoy them for different reasons!
With the season about five days away, thought that why not post some interviews with players .. I tend to meet players here and there.. and they (mostly) are always up for a quick chat in front of the cameras.
The Women start their season 24 hours before the Men’s season .. so let’s give the stage to two players from the Naisten Korisliiga – as I cast to Lilli Hakkarainen from HBA Märsky, and Petra Noponen from Tapiolan Honka. These interviews are in Finnish – so apologies for those of you who do not speak Finnish. I will aim to make plenty of English speaking interviews over the season as well .. I know – confusing to write the Blog post in English for Finnish interviews. It’s just that my written Finnish is even worse than my written English.
But – here are longish interviews with Petra and Lilli … thanks to both players for sitting down with me and see you on the baseline during the season!
