Caravan season almost over

Yes, I know – end of May and I am saying it is the end of season for caravan life??

Most Finns just about are getting their campers out storage and ready for the summer …

For me, since start of September until now – not that I have counted, but I might have been living in the camper for easily over 150 days/nights. Just these recent stay has been 40 days in the camper around Finland.

But for me – it is the Korisliiga season and Superpesis start of season that are caravan life.

Just in the last seven weeks, I have driven over 20.000 kilometres around Finland – done over 50 photoshoots – few games here and there.

Slept at caravan sites, camping grounds, behind petrol stations, in National Parks … also had COVID ..

Been a crazy few weeks, not saying I’ve had much of a ‘life’ during this time – so guess it can’t be called ‘van life’ 😉

This has been more like van-work ..

Staying places where I am on my own has always been the thing for me when parking my camper – so it was really last weekend when I parked for Friday and Saturday nights in two different spots to sleep – that I saw that NOW is the time when campers and hikers are waking-up and heading to the forests in big numbers.

In one ‘regular’ spot where I stay, I have seen only ONE camper in my multiple stays over the last weeks… on Friday, I just about managed to squeeze into the last remaining place at 20.00 when I arrived.

Then the next night – once again place where I have stayed previously and have been the only one there – this time there were cars parked along the road for about hundred meters before the parking area. Luckily I arrived quite late – so many cars were already leaving, so I found a spot to park.

So – it is time to leave the camping sites and forests to the ‘summer people’ – I will return to my van life in late September.. when most people start to head back to their homes 🙂
