On the road -Day 7

Day 7 of ??

Now this was more like a usual day, from 5am until about 3am.. non-stop work/travel for over 20 hours – not maybe what most people consider a normal work day.. but for me, quite often this is it!

But now that I am working another full day while writing about yesterday… my mind is pretty blank.. but still, yesterday was a day/night to remember and cleared my plans for August 2023 quite nicely 😉

Morning and day time on Sunday…. early morning training session with the team, usual game day Social Media posting, etc – plus preparing some video for Monday. Then.. from training until game time – there seems to be a fog that I can’t remember what I did? Probably packed my bags – not that I had UNPACKED them, but still, gather all bits and bobs from the room and stuff them in the suitcase.

4pm – heading for the game venue.

He can fly!!

Really great crowd at Saku Suurhall, and no need to pump music at 150% to ‘create atmosphere’ the 5000-6000 fans at the arena did much better job at it than any music could! Game was a nice one as well, really close all the way until the final minutes, until Finland ran away with the win and stuck one foot in the door for FIBA World Cup 2023!

After the game, the usual – team goes to have a shower and dinner, I gather my cameras – wire off images to clients and take care of Social Media posts, post game TV interviews and other stuff.. then run to the bus (to make sure team won’t leave without me!!) to head to the airport for a 10pm flight back to Helsinki.

Yes – I had stayed in one town/country for over 48 hours, so it was time to go again!

The 25 minute flight to Helsinki was one of the most memorable of my life, with Israel and Sweden playing at the time, and a Sweden win would put Finland thought to World Cup.. some players MIGHT have had their phones on most flight to try to get updates of the score 😉

When the plane landed, there was half the players with the faces glued to the phone, and the other half looking over their shoulders. Shouts of the time remaining and how much Sweden were leading.. were ringing out every few seconds.. and when it became clear Sweden had won, a polite applause among the players and few ‘We’re going to the World Cup’ were said. Very usual Finnish way of celebrating, let’s not make a big deal of this…

After disembarking and gathering our luggage, few more fresh comments from the head coach and captain on video.. straight to Social Media.. and a group photo at the airport of the team.

Then to the airport hotel… and editing until about 3am..

What about my lunch, dinner.. as there weren’t any photos… well, that’s maybe because there was no lunch/dinner today… managed couple of yoghurts and snickers .. oh and two bananas!!

Monday next … guess what, more editing!!
