Back to the road ..
Clients come and clients go… but the road remains.
Another spring coming up, not that we really had proper winter in the south!
What does this mean, another promo photoshoot tour around Finland. This time consisting of 53 teams all over Finland as I go to all the Superpesis and Ykköspesis teams in Finland to photograph them for the league.
For two years it has been the 20 or so teams of Superpesis, but for this season we added another 30 or so teams from the 1st division. At the moment it is the time to contact all the teams and try to get a ‘reasonable’ schedule to cover all the teams – which from experience does NOT mean that you shoot the teams in one city in day or two days back-to-back…
Oh no – it is rather normal to have a photoshoot one day near Oulu, and then the following day in Hamina…. before naturally driving back up to Oulu for the following day.
If you think I am kidding… nope – that has happened … and you wonder why I keep getting this job year after year. One would love to think it is because my photos are totally outstanding.. and hopefully the quality of my images and stuff has something to do with it 🙂

Also – I doubt there would be many other photographer crazy enough to live on the road for two months and do this.
For me – I do actually enjoy this time, it is always great to be on the road – your whole life (well – work-life) is there with you. No stressing about whether you have all the cameras, lenses, equipment with you .. if you had it in the last photoshoot yesterday… you have it today!
What can I say – I do love my job… sometimes a bit too much.
Do I think I can do an ‘On the Road’ blog per day??
We’ll see, also depends whether anyone would be interested in reading it – even if I sometimes do think that keeping this website is just a lovely way of reminding myself in years to come.. what it was that I did for living and how there were good times there.
But, I am guessing that there will be at least a good 20.000kilometers on the road, nights spent at petrol station parking lots, some nights (the best ones!) in the National Parks, some at Travel Parks, maybe even few at camping areas (camping areas are OK/usable during the off season.. would not think to go to one in the summer.. but April.. still doable!)
For all the players in Superpesis and Ykköspesis – I look forward to visiting your team in the coming months and hopefully you will find at least ONE photo that you will approve of from the sets that I take… if a player is happy with a photo.. you know you have done a good job!
See you on the road!!
