Great new venues in Korisliiga… but??

Last year has seen two great new venues arrive to Korisliiga, much needed!

So, as a photographer what to make of the new arrivals : IKH Arena in Kauhajoki and Motonet Arena in Joensuu.

LIGHTING

This one goes to Joensuu, the lighting there is just PERFECT for capturing action with a low ISO and the colors/contrast in the images is just spot on.. well, for me anyways.

Downside to lighting in Joensuu is that the lights are in an angle (for the photographer) that they shine quite brightly directly to my eyes, so I end up with a slight migraine at the end of most visits. But, this is probably more down to myself than anything.

Kauhajoki comes second in this – lighting is good, but was maybe expecting a little brighter. For the game experience when looking at the game from the stands – Kauhajoki would come out on top for me.. but then again, I am looking at the venue through the lens and in that respect..sorry guys.. it is #1 spot for Joensuu

PHOTO POSITIONS

Possibly once again, the Motonet gets few more points.. only for the fact that IKH Arena has more LED boards – so you can move more freely at the Motonet Arena.

But the difference really is like giving one 9- and the other 9 as a score.. so very minor difference. Still – if a separation has to be found – the east of Finland comes out on top again.

IMAGE BACKGROUND

This one – definitely to IKH Arena in Kauhajoki – this arena has seating all the way to court level and is more looking like an arena designed for pro-sports and events, where as Motonet Arena is still more of a university venue with the feel/look of it.

These two venues are quite far ahead of anything else, with maybe the inclusion of Salohalli to the Top 3 venues, in Finland that a photographer will enjoy visiting EITHER of these two venues and should come back with some great images.

At the other end of the venues, there are still way too many venues that are slightly dated and lights are.. well.. not Northgate Arena.. but still.
