Naisten Korisliiga – Team of the week 45
There we have it, the Team of the Week for the week 45 – and now the Naisten Korisliiga is heading for a two week break, with the International games coming up. Next time we’ll see Naisten Korisliiga action will be on the 24th of November.
So, my team of the week and the bench – for Week 45.
Sydney Cook (F/C) – Honka : Cook gets her place from in the team this week from her performance against ViVe – as Honka took their third win of the season with a 74-64 result. An impressive double-double (27 points and 17 rebounds) – on top of a strong defensive performance, Cook deservedly takes the place in this weeks team.
Aleighsa Welch (C) – Catz : Welch is a name that is never far off the starting 5 in the team. This week her performance in the thriller against FoA – where she scored an impressive 23 points, grabbed 10 boards, added 5 assists and one steal. Shooting 5-5 from free throw line and 50% from the field. She helped her team to a two point win against one of the surprise packages of the early season. Look out for Welch in these compilations later in the season.
Sara Bejedi (G) – HBA : Bejedi topped her team in all the main stats in the game vs ToPo on Saturday. 26 points, 11 rebounds (all at the defensive end), 7 assists, 4 steals. Shooting 9-11 from 2 point ranch, 83% from charity stripe. The quick footed guard had the perfect game to head off to the International break – where she will put her skills to the test against some of Europes finest. When Bejedi does well, usually HBA do well.. her ability to pass defenders, is something that fans enjoy watching.
Ashli Payne (F) – PeKa : Another double-double performer to our Team of the Week – Payne didn’t stand out in any single category in the game vs Kouvottaret. But her performance was evenly distributed through all the stats – 15 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals – her stats would have been more impressive if the game hadn’t been so clear from early on – so her inclusion to the team, with a mere 22 minutes played in teh game. Not too bad from the forward of the week.
Randi Brown (G) – HyPo : Another player making her presence felt in the Naisten Korisliiga – she gets her place from the early week game vs EBT. Where Brown netted game high 31 points, and added 8 rebounds and 3 steals to her stats. Having Brown at your disposal on the backcourt – it makes coach Sopanen’s work that little bit easier. Her shooting percentage probably wasn’t there with the best this week, but her all over performance gains her another place in the Team of the Week.
